Poker is undoubtedly the most popular card game ever. Normally, a standard deck of 52 cards is used for poker except some variant, where some cards of the deck left out. To start the game, every player on the table is dealt with 5 cards. The player, who has the highest hand ranking, is always the winner. Cards hand ranking is according to their numeric value.. Ace is always higher than other cards, then comes king, then queen, then jack, and so on, which is called a standard 5-card variant of poker.

Hand Rankings

Hand ranking is not only based on the numeric value of the cards; but their suits are another important aspect to look for. Highest numeric ranking along with same-suit cards is always higher than the same numeric ranking card without the same-suit. So, hand rankings are given their called name according to their combination:

Royal Flush: Highest possible numeric counting with same-suit.

Straight Flush: Where all cards are in any numeric order with same-suit.

Four of a kind: Where any four cards having the same numeric value, but each card has the different suit.

Full house: Where any two cards having 2 same numeric card and other 3 also have some other same numeric value, regardless of their suits.

These are only some of the top hand rankings in the game. Other hand rankings include straight, high card, three of a kind, one pair, two pair, and the flush.

Other Variants

Over the years, there are many popular variants has evolved like 5 Card stud, Texas Hold-em, 7 card stud, lowball, etc. But always remember, whatever variant you are playing; you must have a strategy to win the pot.
